History of Delta Zeta:

National:

In 1902, six young women came together at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio to form a social sorority with a vision of lifetime sisterhood. The six women, Alfa Lloyd, Mary Collins, Anna Keen, Julia Bishop, Mabelle Minton, and Anne Simmons, met the president of the college at the time, Dr. Guy Potter Benton, to make this idea come to life. Over a century later, the sorority they laid the foundation for has international reach with over 247,000 alumnae and members worldwide.

Local:

The Xi Rho chapter was established by over 80 Clarkson University women in 1986 in their search for more in a sorority than what was being offered. Our house bought a chapter house directly across the street from campus. Originally the house was not completed properly, so it became condemned. Shortly after, the house was bought by one of our sister's father's, Mr. Platt. After much hard work and repairs to the house, sisters were able to open its door and house many of its members. In 2003, the house was bought by the national chapter and can house up to 16 sisters! The chapter remains one of four recognized sororites on campus and continues to inspire the lives of all the Clarkson women that enter the doors of our sisterhood.
